Privacy Policy

Harbour North provides retirement-planning and budgeting tools, including Horizon and Bearing. Harbour North respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently. Harbour North is operated by Ryan Archibald in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada.
1. Information we collect
When you use Harbour North, we may collect information you provide directly, including:
- Account information: name, email address, account identifiers, and sign-in or authentication information.
- Retirement-planning information: age and household information, retirement dates and goals, employment and pension income, CPP and OAS estimates, RRSP, TFSA and non-registered balances, contributions and withdrawals, spending assumptions, province of residence, other income sources, and financial assumptions used in your plan.
- Budgeting information: account names and types, balances, transaction dates and descriptions, transaction amounts, categories, recurring income and bills, budgets, spending targets, financial goals, and other information you enter or import into Bearing.
- Purchase information: product purchased, purchase date, payment status, transaction or checkout identifiers, and refund or dispute status.
- Technical information: browser and device information, IP address, dates and times of access, application errors, security information, and diagnostic information.
Harbour North may also use browser storage, including local storage, to maintain your session, remember the active plan, and support application functionality.
2. Why we use your information
We use personal information only for legitimate purposes connected with operating Harbour North, including to create and manage accounts, save and synchronize retirement plans and budgeting information, perform retirement calculations, support budgeting and transaction-categorization features, generate recommendations and reports, process purchases and refunds, determine feature access, respond to support and privacy requests, protect accounts, diagnose errors, improve reliability, and meet legal or accounting obligations.
3. Financial information, calculations and budgeting
Harbour North uses the information you enter or import to provide retirement estimates, projections, comparisons, budgeting tools, transaction categorization, and planning guidance. We do not sell your personal financial information to advertisers or data brokers.
Harbour North is a retirement-planning and budgeting service and is not a bank, investment dealer, insurance company, accounting firm, or law firm. The financial-planning limitations of the service are addressed separately in our Terms of Use and financial disclaimer.
4. Service providers
Harbour North relies on third-party service providers to operate the service, including Supabase for account authentication and cloud storage, Stripe for payment processing, Resend for transactional email, Cloudflare for website delivery and security, and Sentry for application error and reliability monitoring.
5. Processing outside Canada
Some Harbour North service providers may process or store information outside British Columbia or outside Canada, including in the United States or other jurisdictions. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
6. Payments
Payments are processed through Stripe. Harbour North receives confirmation and transaction information needed to provide purchased features and manage refunds or disputes, but does not directly store your complete payment-card number.
7. When we disclose information
Harbour North does not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information to service providers that help operate Harbour North, when you authorize us to do so, when reasonably necessary for fraud or security investigations, to comply with applicable law or legal process, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a legitimate sale or transfer of the Harbour North business subject to applicable privacy requirements.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and for applicable legal, accounting, security, and business requirements.
9. Security
Harbour North uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, misuse, or alteration. No Internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information Harbour North holds about you, correction of inaccurate information, information about certain uses or disclosures, withdrawal of consent where applicable, or deletion of personal information where permitted. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
11. Account and plan deletion
If you want Harbour North account or plan information deleted, contact us at support@harbournorth.ca. Removing a local browser copy of a plan does not necessarily delete the copy associated with your Harbour North account.
12. Consent
By providing personal information to Harbour North, you consent to its collection, use, and disclosure for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy where consent is required by law. You may withdraw consent in appropriate circumstances, but doing so may prevent Harbour North from providing some or all of the service.
13. Children
Harbour North is intended for adults using the service for retirement planning, budgeting, and related personal financial planning. It is not designed or intended for children, and we do not knowingly solicit personal information from children.
14. Cookies and browser storage
Harbour North and its service providers may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for authentication, security, session management, payment processing, application functionality, and error detection. Harbour North does not use personal financial information for behavioural advertising.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Harbour North evolves or legal requirements change. When changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify users or make the updated policy prominent.
